The Fund for Operations supports the administrative expenses of the ECPSF, working in tandem with support provided by the Eau Claire Area School District. Click to donate to the Fund for Operations.

The goal of the ECPSF Board of Trustees is to fully fund the operations of the Foundation as soon as is practical, thus not relying on the Eau Claire Area School District (ECASD) for such support. Each school in the ECASD has a Fund for Today and a Fund for the Future.

Donors may designate gifts for any of the funds, and may split their gifts among the funds. Donors may also give directly to the Eau Claire Public Schools Foundation. Gifts not designated by the donor will be allocated as such: 80% to the Fund for Today and 20% to the Fund for Operations. Donor forms and additional information about giving opportunities are available on the ECPSF website above.

Hubbard and Kathryn Robbins Family Fund

The Robbins family has been present in the Eau Claire area since Ephraim Wheeler Robbins settled here in 1854. When Eau Claire County was incorporated in 1855, Ephraim asked his neighbors to raise $400 to build a school. A 16' by 24' building was constructed and homes were also built in the surrounding area as the community grew. Ephraim built a home for his family using brick from a local kiln, lumber logged near Otter Creek, and handmade nails. This family home was torn down when Robbins School needed to expand.

Hubbard Willis Robbins was born in this home in 1914. He grew up and attended the Eau Claire Teachers College (now known as the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) and taught in local rural schools. After serving his country in World War II, in 1946 he married Kathryn Donaldson, who had grown up in Eau Claire and was also a teacher. They raised three daughters, Lucille, Kaye, and Laura.

When Hubbard passed away in 2002, this Designated Named Fund at the Eau Claire Community Foundation was established with memorial gifts. It has grown to become a fund for Eau Claire's Robbins Elementary School, intended to help teachers and students for generations to come.

Junior League of Eau Claire Endowment Fund

Click to visit the Junior League of Eau Claire website.

The Junior League of Eau Claire is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Formerly known as the Eau Claire Service League, this organization was formed on March 19, 1930, as a coordinated volunteer effort after a flood devastated Eau Claire. The organization grew in size from its original thirteen charter members as new members were invited to join through a sponsorship and voting process. In February 1991, the Service League voted to affiliate with the Association of Junior Leagues International, and in 1993 became the organization now known as the Junior League of Eau Claire.

Membership is open to all women who are called to serve and are committed to the mission. Carrying on the tradition of the founders, the Junior League of Eau Claire continues its mission to develop, facilitate, and support a wide variety of projects and fundraisers that serve women and children at risk in the Eau Claire area.

The purpose of the Junior League Endowment Fund is to support initiatives, through grants, to non-profit organizations that fulfill this mission. Donations to this Fund can be sent directly to the Eau Claire Community Foundation with a designation for the Junior League Endowment Fund as the recipient.

"Katharine's Wish" is a promise kept by 13-year old Katie Rhoten of Eau Claire, WI. In January of 2008, Katie was with her family at Disney World when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

The hospital was a very scary place for the then 9-year-old. However, the pain of this experience was lessened, because each time Katie had a poke or procedure, she was given a stuffed animal to ease the pain and distract her.

Over the past 5 years, Katie has donated thousands of new toys and books to hospitals in northern Wisconsin on the anniversary date of her diabetes diagnosis. Katie vows to continue this project and expand the number of children reached, until a cure for type 1 diabetes is found.

At age 13, Katharine is the youngest member to ever create a Donor Advised Fund with the Eau Claire Community Foundation. Katharine and her family are incredibly grateful for the support and help provided by the Foundation and its Board of Directors for believing in the mission of "Katharine's Wish." The family decided to create a donor-advised fund with the Foundation in order to keep overhead expenses for this "very grassroots" organization to a bare minimum, and allow the "experts" to handle the financial/tax aspects for a minimal fee.

Once the fund is fully funded, the earnings, and if needed, a portion of the principal will go directly to providing toys (and comfort) to children in medical facilities.

Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund Read more about this fund »

Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund

Drs. Kristina and Alex Beuning of Eau Claire established the Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund at the Eau Claire Community Foundation. The mission of the fund is to create solutions to the problem of social isolation for adults with disabilities within our local community by providing opportunities to develop socialization skills and build friendships while providing respite support for families and caregivers.

The fund is named for Kristina's two brothers, who were diagnosed with neonatal adrenal leukodystrophy as young children. Robert passed away in 2005 at age 34, at which time their parents started the Robert V. Miller fund in Austin, Texas in his honor. Because of how he benefited from the fun, friends, and support of overnight camping and other social opportunities, his family wanted to make these same experiences possible for others with disabilities.

Today a similar fund, the Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Legacy Fund, continues in Austin which since 2005 has provided the opportunity for over 700 individuals to participate in week-long or four day overnight weekend retreats and over 200 individuals to participate in a peer social program. In addition to this fund in Austin and the new fund in Eau Claire, a similar fund has been started at the Southwest Florida Community Foundation, which will support the same opportunities for adults with disabilities living in that area.

Kristina Beuning is the owner/operator of Sunbow Farm, an organic fruit and vegetable farm in Eau Claire. Alex Beuning is a physician. They were inspired and encouraged by Kristina's parents to establish a fund at the Eau Claire Community Foundation similar to the one at the Austin Community Foundation. It is the goal of this family to help enrich the lives of adults with disabilities and their families in the greater Chippewa Valley. Ideally, this will happen through the establishment of local residential camps and continued ongoing social opportunities for the participants.

These experiences for the campers will also enable parents and caregivers to rest, relax and enjoy some time for themselves knowing that the person they love will be enjoying interaction with others. As the Robert V. and Benjamin G Miller Fund at the Eau Claire Community Foundation grows, the Beunings envision such opportunities will develop. For more information about the program in Texas, see this website: http://rvmcampsadultsdisabilities.org/

Contributions to the Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund can be made by sending donations to the Eau Claire Community Foundation, with the fund designated as the recipient. Donations are also accepted online through the ECCF website.

Young Family Fund

Jack and Cleo Young were among the original organizers of the Eau Claire Community Foundation, providing guidance and seed funds to enable the Foundation to become established in the community. They were the first members of the Society of Founders which further established the Eau Claire Community Foundation through the unrestricted generosity of individual gifts. As the Foundation continued to grow, Jack and Cleo established the Young Family Fund. "We have strong ties to Eau Claire. We have raised and educated our children and have benefited from a successful medical practice in Eau Claire. The fund is of great value to us in leaving a legacy that will perpetually make a positive difference in this city." Grants from the Young Family Fund will be directed to non-profit organizations and causes that family members recommend for approval by the Board of Trustees. Jack and Cleo are also members of the Foundation's Legacy Society. Cleo is a Founder of the Foundation's Women's Giving Circle.
