This fund ensures future financial support for the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library in Eau Claire for areas that are not ordinarily provided through its operating budget. These include special programs, services, events, opportunities, and initiatives, improvements to the Library's collections, enhanced customer services, recognition of outstanding achievements by the library's volunteers and staff, and initiatives to improve, expand or replace the library's physical plant, furniture, or equipment.

With support from this Fund and donors like you, the library was able to introduce its new Dabble Box makerspace in January 2017. This multi-purpose programming lab and studio allows users to explore technology, arts, and crafts through hands-on learning.

THE DABBLE BOX OFFERS:

Access to equipment: 3D Printer, LEGO Mindstorms, Cameo Silhouette, mug press, sewing machines, and 3D Doodle Pens
• Do-It-Yourself demonstrations, workshops, and monthly open lab times for all ages
• Directed programs for all ages in science, technology, engineering, art, and math, supported by expert community partners
• Maker-oriented books and curated take-home kits: Cubelets, Raspberry Pi, GoPro cameras, ukuleles and keyboards, canning, Dash and Dot, MaKey MaKey, and so much more!

The Dabble Box provides a unique setting for people of all ages, interests, and skill levels to try out new things, pursue their passions, and collaborate with each other--all without cost to the individual. Users develop new technology skills, gain confidence, and expand career opportunities.

The 2016 Endowment Fund distribution was used to introduce a library BookBike to the community. Over the summer, library staff made 28 BookBike visits around the Chippewa Valley. They issued new library cards, checked out books, read stories to kids, and engaged in fun activities.

Projects like the BookBike and Dabble Box empower people, spark innovative ideas, and uncover hidden talents. They give rise to new careers, hobbies and learning experiences, build community spirit, and positively impact the growth of our local economy.

Please consider making a gift to the library’s Endowment Fund. The principal is never withdrawn; only the investment earnings are used. The Endowment Committee has set a goal of raising $30,000 in the next six months. They invite you to join the efforts with a donation to this Fund.

Gifts to the Endowment Fund can be made directly to the Eau Claire Community Foundation via this page. You can also send a check made out to "ECCF" to the Foundation office at 306 S. Barstow St. Suite 104, Eau Claire, WI  54701. Please note "Library Endowment Fund" on the memo line.
